Battery Cut Out Switches

Recommended Posts

What have people used for battery cut-out switches for these higher voltage sytems? Im working on a 1917 to 1935 Detroit Electric. There are two 48-volt battery banks. So Im figuring there will be two switches; located one each front and rear with the seperate battery banks or perhaps both switches conveniently next to each other. I also would like this to be period correct or at least vintage looking. The car was first built 1917, and rebuilt at the factory in 1935. Is it possible that a period corrext switch would be more of a knife-blade lever switch rather that a rotary? And can common rotary switch cut-outs handle 48 volts? I saw cut-out switches referred to in some Detroit Electric wiring diagrams but I dont know what they'd look like.
