Engine stop leak

Recommended Posts

What is the consensus from the brain trust about putting stop leak in the engine.  I am considering ATP AT-205 or Gunk Bearin Seal.

Oil thickener

I would not use it, band aid fix for a worn out part and will only get worse

I would think anything thick enough to stop a leak would clog radiatior passages as well, not to mention it will be coating the inside of the engine block. Just fix the leak right the first time and you will be further ahead.

"Stop Leak" is a brand name for a radiator sealant, so you've gotten somewhat confusing responses to your inquiry. Radiator sealants are long proven to be effective. I think, however, that you might be talking about some product to seal oil leaks in an engine. If that's the case, I'll tell you that those products don't have a history of satisfied customers, though they have been around for a long time. If they work at all, they usually only do so for a short period of time.
