In CCCA we do not judge cars that have reproduction bodies. Assuming they meet our other criteria, they are classified as "Modified Classics ." They are not eligible for any type of award. On the other hand, qualified Modified Classics may participate in our national tours (CARavans).
Even so, it is possible to use reproduction body parts on a CCCA recognized Full Classic , but they must be identical reproductions, made of the same materials as the originals. This is usually done because the original part is simply beyond reasonable restoration. It's sometimes cheaper to make a new body part than it is to fix the old one. Any deviation in material, workmanship or design is considered to be an "Authenticity Deduction." These deductions are usually severe enough to essentially disqualify any such car from receiving an award in our Club's judging system. This incentive seems to work well to encourage our members to do authentic restorations, which is one of the stated purposes of our club.
CCCA stresses authenticity in restoration, and does not encourage any deviation from that standard. We recognize that many people enjoy modifying cars and making vehicles that never originally existed. It's a fine hobby, but not what we are all about. We'd encourage them to do otherwise whenever possible, but we know that some cars are simply "too far gone" to authentically restore.
You are likely to see these non-authentic cars at various community car shows. They are not a part of CCCA events. There are other clubs and organizations for them.
It's a big hobby, with something for everyone. smile.gif" border="0
