I am restoring a 1929 Pierce Arrow and will be installing seat belts. Can anyone give me recommendations as to what kind is acceptable? Should I be going to a type with an aircraft-type buckle? Thanks for any advice

CCCA Rules allow the installation of seatbelts in cars with NO DEDUCTION, if they are installed in a neat and workmanlike manner. <P>You are restoring a very fine automobile, so I'm sure you will want to find some belts that harmonize with the interior of your car. Most collectors settle for lap belts because the logistics (and secure anchoring considerations) of a three point harness is usually impractical in cars of the Classic Era. My only advice is to make sure that the belts are anchored to some steel frame members. Bolting through a wooden piece will not give you the protection you need in a violent crash. While you have the car apart, this might be a good opportunity to install some hidden steel reinforcements for your seat belts.
