Bob Zetnick
In the middle of reworking a Stewart Warner tank I found a relatively cheap Kingston tank that I think was original to the car ( the brackets fit better w/ the screw holes on the firewall) Anyway, I've got a little info on the Kingston tank, but when I took the top off there were 2 loose springs between the inner chamber top and the very top of the tank. I don't see those in my info....anyone know what they were used for and how they were retained in there? Are they even supposed to be in there? Bob Zetnick
OK, looking at the cross section again, the top fittings may go through the springs.....not very clear as the drawing may be showing the spiralized nature of the fitting threads and not the spiralized nature of the springs...not sure what the springs would be doing between lid and top of inner chamber either. frank29u
Yes, the fittings go through the springs. Unsure of their purpose, but I keep the lid just above the rim of outer can; for what it's worth.
