34 FORDOR
Can someone tell me how the front shock strap attaches to the bracket one the front axle. I believe there is some kind of wedge that locks it in place. Some photos would be a great help. Thank you
Sasha39
Yes you are correct, the strap is riveted to the wedge and then wrapped around the wedge before being inserted into the bracket mounted onto the front axle the strap is then secured to the shock. The same thing applies to the rear shocks. Narve N
Some more illustrations. Of note the snubbers tend to stretch after some miles and might need to be tightened, and changing from oil to grease as damper fluid gives you stiffer dampening. Sasha39
Hi Narve,Have you changed over to grease? And if so how do you find the ride? Also what grade of grease did you use?
Narve N
Was tipped of by an old hotrodder that stiffening up these shocks with grease was the way to go back in the days. Using general automotive grease I find the car much better with less trampling over speed bumps and potholes than previously. Recommended, and leaks less too. Sasha39
Thanks for the tip Narve, I'm working on a 4 door Sedan (1929 Chrysler 65) at the moment and will try that when I get around to the shocks, how are your two cars going?Cheers from Downunder. Narve N
From Up North (Latitude 60) to Down Under: It is going forward with as steady pace. The Orange Series 65 is now rather dependable, and the chassis of the other (Blue) is almost done. Hope to have the first test rides with the Blue car the coming Spring.
