grease gun for classic car grease fittings

Recommended Posts

Depends what kind they are. If you can find a new fitting with the same threads, go ahead and put them in. But, save the old ones and put them in a jar of cleaning solvent. You, or someone, may want to put them back.

Or you might find the appropriate grease gun. Maybe on Ebay or at a flea market? You never know your luck, they made millions of them.

Correct spelling is "Zerk". Design was patented by Oscar U. Zerk in 1929 and assigned to the Alimite Corporation.  Guns for your older Alimite fittings are often on ebay.

I just remove each old fitting drop it in some solvent; meanwhile, I screw in a modern fitting; lube up the site then put the cleaned old fitting back. Note, not all of the sites require grease. Some require heavy oil. Check your owner's manual.
