Guest HunterStephens1 Posted October 6, 2015 Share Posted October 6, 2015 ok so im converting the system in my 89 to r-134a and i bought the retrofit fittings but the original r-12 low side fitting is smaller than the low side retrofit adapter and smaller than the fitting on my r-12 manifold gauge set.... i know i have the right retrofit adapters because the low side wont fit on the high side.. what am i missing Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You need a manifold for R-134a, it has Acme fittings and they are a different size than the R-12 manifold. As far as the retrofit kits go, you have to get the correct one for the car you have, there is a kit available with all the adapter fittings included. Remember to pull a good vacuum to see the condition of the system.
