John_S_in_Penna
The weather, for those who weren't there to experience the show first-hand, was superb! Sunny, with a high around 70 degrees on Saturday. Sunny and warm almost all the other days. The only rain came on Friday afternoon. The weathermen were quite accurate-- for the short term-- for most days. However, for show day, they were not. A day or so before Saturday's show, they were calling for a high of 62-63 and a windy, cool day. An excellent show!
topblissgt
the weather was PERFECT for the show.
John_S_in_Penna
And the general expectation that began this thread, "MOST LIKELY: High temperatures, Low 60's to mid-70's. Light jacket or none at all. Morning lows: 45-60. Many days are sunny this time of year" is indeed what transpired. That's our typical weather for this time of year. John_S_in_Penna
A new year should bring new people to Hershey, so it's worth re-posting this topic that started last year. Long-time showgoers know all about Hershey weather-- but thankfully, there are always newcomers. And this might help them in planning their trip.
trimacar
OH NO< WE'RE GOING TO HAVE WEATHER AT HERSHEY!!! Oh, wait, that's right, we have weather every day.... Hope it turns out to be good weather, one never knows, rain, wind, and so forth. Challenges that the good Lord gives us as he laughs! Bet he drives an enclosed car, though, just in case....
Matt Harwood
The first rule of Hershey Club is, you do not talk about the weather. The second rule of Hershey Club is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER!
trimacar
Yes, but in discussing the weather, it's whether or not we're going to have weather, and whether the weather will be bland weather or interesting weather, and whether we will get wet or stay dry, or otherwise weather the weather, whether we want to or not....
John_Maine
I know long range forecasts aren't terribly reliable, but just checked Tuesday - partly sunny, high 70 / low 55 Wednesday - mostly cloudy, 70 / 56 Thursday - mostly cloudy, 72 / 53 Friday - mostly sunny, 73/51 Saturday - mostly cloudy, showers possible, 71 / 46 Looks like pretty much ideal weather for wandering around - not too hot, not too cold, small possibility of rain on Saturday.
Matt Harwood
Dude, stop it! It's the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle of weather: the act of looking at long-range forecasts automatically causes them to be inaccurate. If it says no rain, it'll rain. If it calls for rain, it'll rain. Don't look at the weather. I'm serious. /is that a black cat?

From what I've learned, long-range forecasts cannot be relied upon--at all. Predicted rain may be sun, predicted coolness may be warmth. It's not a jinx, it's unperfected science! If you look at my posting #41 from last year, you'll see that even the forecast for the day of show, made the day before, was inaccurate. That's why the thread discusses only TYPICAL weather for newcomers' planning and packing. If you live in Arizona or Austria or Australia, you may have little idea what to expect in Pennsylvania in the fall. Now, once we get to the big event, let's see how those long-range forecasts really turn out!
46 woodie
I have framed on my garage wall a copy of the USA Today weather map of Oct. 11th 2013. The entire east coast is clear except for a dime sized green rain storm over Harrisburg/Hershey area. If you recall 2013 Hershey had record rains. Sure it may inconvenience us but think about the vendors, their the one's that really get hurt.
Durant Mike
The question of the hour will be the Hurricane in the Caribbean, Matthew will be off the coast of Florida on Monday or Tuesday but looks like it will miss the state. That means it could go in the Carolina's, Virginia etc and although will not be a hurricane once it hits land, it could bring unforcasted extreme rain. Let's hope not! Steve Moskowitz
https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Hershey+PA+USPA0710:1:US No more hysteria....weather looking perfect!!! We are not allowing rain this year.
Eric Wahlberg
Does it really matter what the weather will be? I will be there to walk the car corral with a few friends, visit the flee market, watch the race cars and have lunch with a good friend on Friday, attend the judging school and judge on Saturday. Plus, it will be nicer than it was at Carlisle today.
topblissgt
I have a weather pay service thru work that is amazingly accurate. It says in Hershey high of 67 degrees and a 35% chance of rain Saturday. It don't look too bad.
Restorer32
Nice here in Hershey today. Sunny, warm, light breeze. Folks are out in droves. We are down the aisle from Herb Singe. This is his 63rd Hershey! Makes me feel like a mere beginner with my 49 years.
