Weather to Expect for Hershey Fall Meet

The weather, for those who weren't there to

experience the show first-hand, was superb!

Sunny, with a high around 70 degrees on Saturday.

Sunny and warm almost all the other days.

The only rain came on Friday afternoon.

The weathermen were quite accurate--

for the short term-- for most days.

However, for show day, they were not.

A day or so before Saturday's show, they

were calling for a high of 62-63 and a

windy, cool day.

An excellent show!

OH NO< WE'RE GOING TO HAVE WEATHER AT HERSHEY!!!  Oh, wait, that's right, we have weather every day....

Hope it turns out to be good weather, one never knows, rain, wind, and so forth.  Challenges that the good Lord gives us as he laughs!  Bet he drives an enclosed car, though, just in case....

Yes, but in discussing the weather, it's whether or not we're going to have weather, and whether the weather will be bland weather or interesting weather, and whether we will get wet or stay dry, or otherwise weather the weather, whether we want to or not....

I know long range forecasts aren't terribly reliable, but just checked

Tuesday - partly sunny, high 70 / low 55

Wednesday - mostly cloudy, 70 / 56

Thursday - mostly cloudy, 72 / 53

Friday - mostly sunny, 73/51

Saturday - mostly cloudy, showers possible, 71 / 46

Looks like pretty much ideal weather for wandering around - not too hot, not too cold, small possibility of rain on Saturday.

Dude, stop it!

It's the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle of weather: the act of looking at long-range forecasts automatically causes them to be inaccurate. If it says no rain, it'll rain. If it calls for rain, it'll rain.

Don't look at the weather. I'm serious.

/is that a black cat?

From what I've learned, long-range forecasts

cannot be relied upon--at all.  Predicted rain may be sun,

predicted coolness may be warmth.

It's not a jinx, it's unperfected science!

If you look at my posting #41 from last year, you'll see that

even the forecast for the day of show, made the day before,
was inaccurate.  That's why the thread discusses only

TYPICAL weather for newcomers' planning and packing.

If you live in Arizona or Austria or Australia, you may have

little idea what to expect in Pennsylvania in the fall.

Now, once we get to the big event, let's see how those long-range

forecasts really turn out!

I have framed on my garage wall a copy of the USA Today weather map of Oct. 11th 2013. The entire east coast is clear except for a dime sized green rain storm over Harrisburg/Hershey area. If you recall 2013 Hershey had record rains. Sure it may inconvenience us but think about the vendors, their the one's that really get hurt.

The question of the hour will be the Hurricane in the Caribbean, Matthew will be off the coast of Florida on Monday or Tuesday but looks like it will miss the state. That means it could go in the Carolina's, Virginia etc and although will not be a hurricane once it hits land, it could bring unforcasted extreme rain. Let's hope not!
