MAG473
Has anyone had luck finding Metz parts at Fall Hershey? I'm looking for sheetmetal (fenders) in particular. Wondering if it is worth the trip other than for the experience of attending for the first time. Wayne
MochetVelo
The only brass-era parts you're sure to find at Hershey are Ford. I've kept my eyes open for Metz parts at Hershey over the past 5 years or so. In that time, I've seen an engine, some Champion 32 spark plugs, and some literature but nothing else specifically Metz. However, that doesn't mean there won't be any this year. If you like old cars, however, I encourage you to make the trip. Phil
MAG473
Thanks Phil. Did you have new fenders made for your car? I thought I read where someone had them made but cannot locate it now.
MochetVelo
No, my car came with fenders luckily. Phil
MAG473
I found a similar situation at Chickasha OK swap meet last year. Tons of early ford parts. I did luck out and find a nice Metz gas tank so that made the trip worth while. Ironically I vended at the Le Sueur MN tractor swap meet this past spring and located a nice 1915 Model 22 engine complete in good condition. After Loading that into my pickup and parking back at my swap space, a fellow was looking at the engine and told me he had a Metz radiator (which I am missing). He said he bought it with the intent of mounting it on his garden tractor but it has been sitting on the shelf in his shed for 8-10 years. I guess one never knows what or where you'll run across hard to find parts. Only keep talking to people and follow up all leads.
