Guest chrismc410
Hi, I know this site is dedicated to the Reatta and this is my first post. With that said, I know they share the same Teves II ABS system from what I've read thus far. Here is my problem: Brake pedal is hard and ABS light and Red Brake Light is on on the dash when the car is on and will not go out. ABS pump will not run when key is turned to on or ignition. ABS pump will work if 12V DC is ran from the battery directly to the pump. If I let the pump run long enough both lights on the dash go out but they come on if plug the pump back in as normal and use the brake pedal. ABS fuses on fuse block are good From what I've read here it can be the accumulator, pressure switch, relays or all three. My questions are as follows: 1. Where is the ABS main and ABS pump relay on the 1990 Buick Electra Park Ave. Ultra? It's not under the hood or under the black plastic near the windshield wiper. Pics would be appreciated if possible. 2. I know the parts are very difficult to impossible to get OEM or from most aftermarket. I have seen some accumulator balls that say they are compatible. Where do I find one? 3. What pressure switches are compatible? The original is not available anymore and I have seen a similar one but has a different pin out. If worse comes to worse can this pinout be converted? And if so, what pin out is what to the other The pin out is like this on the original --- --- --- --- --- The replacements I see look like this: --- --- --- --- --- I really need to get this fixed even a temporary measure as this is now the only car I have, though I have very strong feet don't want to keep driving it like this. My choices are reduced to the following: 1. Junk the car and replace it with a newer one. I don't want to do this since it otherwise runs fine and is in decent shape but I will if no other feasible options exist. 2. Convert the brake system to conventional vacuum assist. I will need a shop willing to do this as none around my area is willing.. If you know of one who can and has a lead on a Buick Electra/Lesabre/Park Ave without ABS that can part with the whole brake system, lines and all, I will consider that option. Thanks in advance. Barney Eaton
Since your unit will pump up if power is run directly to the pump, that tends to point to either the relay or pressure switch. I do not know where the relay is on your car, maybe someone here has a PA or service manual. Without going into a long discussion, do a search on Brakes and go to Ronnies site www.reattaowners.com
Guest Kingsley
The accumulator for the TEVES Mark II ABS can be purchased at www.spinningwheels-sc.com for a current price of $155.00 plus shipping. The item they are selling is manufactured in Germany by the company Hydac. One of these units has been installed in a daily driver Reatta and is performing quite well. I believe that Marck Barcker, www.eastcoastreattaparts.com, sells an accumulator made in Germany and similar to the Hydac for approximately $350 but you should confirm pricing and specifications with him. Nittany
Rattea,There is great interest in this engine swap . . . those that have tried it seem to have been successful. Would you be willing to contribute a write-up of your experience? Plus photos if possible, please!?!Thanks in advance,
Guest Rattea
I really do not understand Nittanneys request, Are we talken' brakes or superchargers? Wm. Rule installed the supercharged buick engine in my car. . The whole conversion {according to Rule} was 98% "plug and play" and the remainder was just "chump change'!!!!! I still have to have the computer reprogrammed. Brakes?? I'm going to have Rule put Big Brakes on my car. Reattas are great cars!!! This guy also went over to Ronnie's site and got help there. It was established that he did need a switch. I offered him a choice of either a NOS or a used one. It's now been two days and I haven't heard from him. I hope he found one somewhere as without the brake system in good working order he and others around him are at great risk. Nittany
Rattea-I guess I could have been more specific . . . I thought the phrase "engine swap" would be a clue. If you need assistance with your computer, Ryan at www.gmtuners.com is known here for custom programming of computers and is very experienced at engine swaps for Reatta's and Fiero's.
