Packard Don
Oddly, the AACA forum blocks searches of VIN so perhaps this has already been answered. Can anyone tell me the location of the VIN (ID Plate) of a 1941 Suburban Carryall? I found online that for 1942 it is under the front mat on the passenger side and maybe 1941 is the same but can someone confirm or clarify? Guest
If you do a google search for 1941 Chevrolet Surburban serial number and download the pdf "1941 Chevrolet Truck - GM Heritage Center" that come up your answer is on page 10. "VIN" numbers were not used for another 13 years and then everyone used there own method. "VIN" as is used today was legislated in 1981.
Packard Don
Yes, thank you, I know that they were not technically VIN numbers but for the purposes of the DMV and the VIN verification form, the distinction isn't made. Page 8 actually has the particular vehicle but there is nothing conclusive that I can find there or anywhere else about the location of the number for 1941. Google searches bring up the information for 1942 and 1940 and earlier but seem to skip 1941!
