1941 Buick Limited Rocker Panel Moldings

I just bought a 1941 90 Series Limited limousine that has been out of circulation for the past 25 years and I'm pretty excited about it. Nice interior, decent paint that'll buff up nicely, straight body, and runs great. Sadly, the rocker panel moldings are missing and someone, sometime replaced them with what looks like tacking strips for linoleum floors or something. From 20 feet away, you might not notice, but up close they're quite wrong and look odd.

So here I am looking for needles in a haystack and need a set of good stainless rocker moldings for a '41 Limited. They're not interchangeable with any other models but all 90s should be identical. They're probably about 96 inches long.

Anyone parting out a '41 Limited? Thanks!

I thought of that, but the rocker moldings on the Cadillacs are totally different. I will probably end up splicing two moldings from a Special together on each side. They're pretty commonly available and I might even have spares already. As West Peterson pointed out in my other thread on the topic, Doug Seybold's '41 Limited has spliced moldings, and if Doug doesn't have moldings, then they likely don't exist. The splicing should work just fine on this car, which is a high-grade driver, not a show car.

Thanks!

Hello matt,

I feel a bit foolish asking, but what is the rocker panel moulding? I assumed it was the panel under the door, but at 96 inches it is is obviously not.

I have the remains of a 42-90 that was apparently Gen Douglas MacArthur's car when he was stationed in Australia in WWII. The guy I got it off stripped a fair bit off the car to build a smaller 42 series car to wartime replica, if the parts are not with the car I could put you in touch with him and he may still have them.

The remains are badly rusted but the interior is relatively intact with electric divider window and jump seats. Let me know if I can help, but I do live in Australia. (I have a nice 40-90 that I bought from West Petersons family- small world!)

I need the bright stainless trim piece that runs along the rocker between the wheel openings and under the doors. They're exclusive to the 90-Series, as the wheelbase is more than a foot longer than the next-largest Roadmaster, so it's unlikely he could have used them on a smaller series car. Note that the car below has three lower trim pieces: the main long one under the doors, a smaller one that wraps around the rubber fender guards, and those on the fender skirts. I already have the skirt trim and even the lower fender guard trim, but not the longer main one. If your '42 has them, I'd definitely be interested!
