1933 gas tank sender/fuel gauge

Recommended Posts

I am confused about rebuilding my gas gauge.

Mac's auto sells a gas tank sender they say will work with the original fuel gauge??

Can't see how it will work?

The ford service bulletins from 1932 show the original gas sender unit...which is not what MAC's sells.

Does anyone have experience on how to restore the original gas gauge .

Sorry, but I could not locate the proper hydrostatic sending unit in 'Mac's' catalog. The one I did find is for a more modern electric gauge as shown in your first link. Your orginial gauge is a manometer which uses a fluid called Acetylene Tetra-bromide dyed with 'Sudan Red'. It has a density of 2.85- 2.95. Be aware...it can be harardous if not handled correctly.
