Guest Posted June 26, 2001 Posted June 26, 2001 Hi Nathan,
You may have gotten a reply by email but this is what I know on the subject. Perhaps others more knowledgeable will chime in.
As I understand it, automobile production (the K6 model was being produced) was stopped in 1936. There are car registered as 1937 as in many production stoppages.
Confusion then kicks in because the company was active in aircraft engine building which did not stop.
More confusion is introduced after the war as revivals in the automobile business were attempted in both France and Spain. This all ended in 1955. But only prototypes were work with after wwII.
Ray Castelhano
Guest Posted June 29, 2001 Posted June 29, 2001 According to Nick Georgano in the Beaulieu Encyclopedia of the Automobile there were a few K6 models built into 1938. While the car production stopped then, the company became a weapons manufacturer, monopolizing the business under government direction and then under German occupation. After the war the company was gradually nationalized and in 1953 purchased the assets of Bugatti. The trademark survives with the products being mostly such thiongs as turbochargers and thrust reversers for aircraft. This is probably mch more information than you ever wanted, but sometimes the history "after the fact" is quite interesting.
