D-a-n-i-e-l
Wiring to or the oil level switch is bad. Easy check for the wiring is to understand plug the connector and use a piece of wire or paper clip to jump the terminals. The warning should toggle with the opening and closing of the circuit. Enoytsur
Does this happen every time or only when you start the car after it sits long enough for the oil to drip into the pan? There is an Oil Level Sensor in the Pan. If it is defective or installed incorrectly you will get a false reading of low oil. It is a simple replacement or proper install during an oil change and the part only costs approximately $45.00 at parts stores such as AutoZone.
Guest Corvanti
if the area around the sensor is not leaking oil, i'd clean the connection with electronic spray first, then what Daniel said - if that didn't take care of the problem. here's a sensor available on ROJ thru "The Reatta Store" - a bit cheaper and with pics: http://thereattastore.com/air5s3008-oil-level-sensor/
