P2 options

Im looking for pictures of the radio and clock options for a P2.  I see three different clock options mentioned (one regular clock and 30hr or 8 day mirror clocks), but cannot seem to find a picture of what any of them actually looked like.  The problem is that everyone wants to list their radio or clock as being for a "30's" hot rod, so I am having a hard time wading through what is real and what is someone's marketing ploy.  I also cannot seem to find where the should go other than the radio control head goes in place of the ash tray (that turned up in a search here).

Thanks again for any help!

I went google images and came with this picture of the radio. It's in the proper place to the left of the speedo, but I recall seeing one mounted in the same spot on the right side:

This picture is of what I believe is a correct radio for '36 Chrysler and Desoto Airstream, Dodge and Plymouth. Maybe the same radio was used in Airflows, but I don't know. Each specific brand had their own dash mounting plate. The one in the picture is specifically for a Dodge, you'll notice that it has a curve which matches that detail in the Dodge dashboard. The Plymouth piece is flat:

I can't find a picture of a clock, but they were mounted in the center of the right glove box lid. I've seen rectangular ones, maybe measuring 2 1/2" X 3", and less deluxe looking round ones. Also, the common mirror mounted one. I'm sure you realize that most accessories like these were sold and mounted at the dealerships. There is also a thread on here about cigar lighters, if that's of any interest to you.

I don't think that I've ever seen one close enough to know what brand they were. Perhaps Ingraham. They weren't labeled "Plymouth" or "Chrysler Corp". I've included a link to an article on Hemmings blog that has a very similar looking clock in that it mounts from the back:

In the case of mirror mounted clocks, they always pretty much resemble the one to which I'm including a link. Where the standard factory mirror was glass mounted into a metal holder, the mirror/clock combos that I've seen always have the mirror floating freely, clinched in a bracket like the one on ebay that I'm showing you:

I have a Motorola 60 in for my '36 Dodge. It's wasn't a factory radio so I imagine it was either dealer installed or installed at some point by the customer. there are several types and brands of period radios and all that I've seen have the control heads replacing the ashtrays. My control head only has two knobs, but I've seen them with three. I think you'd be safe with any "period"type but finding all the parts may be a problem. i suggest that you contact one of the known antique auto radio guys, some advertise on this forum and in the auto related magazines like AACA's "Antique Automobile" and Hemming's Motor News. A radio is neat but in our area about the only stations in AM band that you can pick up are local sports and some talk shows, so it's more for looks.

Someone is offering a radio for sale on Craigslist. I'm not suggesting that you buy it, however $ is cheap for just the basic radio. It doesn't have the head and cables, but they show up by themselves occasionally. What I wanted to point out to you is that if you look closely at the pictures you'll notice that the radio has the correct dual antennae holes. One of the holes is for a car with a soft top (Plymouth) and one of the holes is for a car with a metal top(Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler). By my reckoning, that makes it correct for a '36.
