Ron K.
I have forgotten, what is the torque value that Ford recommends for the U-bolt nuts that hold the rear leaf spring in place? Pretty high as I remember.
19tom40
I don't remember seeing a torque value for the spring U-Bolts. Ford typically did not give torque values for slotted nuts, the directions just say tighten the nuts and insert the cotter key. If you use the standard torque value for grade 3 bolts and then tighten to align the slot with the hole, you should be fine. The axle nuts are different. Tighten them as tight as you can (about 150 ft lbs or more) drive the vehicle for about 10 miles and then try to tighten again. Then put in the cotter key. Ron K.
Thanks, awhile back somebody came up with a recommended torque but that may have been on the Ford Barn. I just remember that it was fairly high but not as high as the axle nuts.
