Guest jeffc
Often the starter will stay engaged on my 1956 Buick Roadmaster and you have to raise the hood and tap the starter relay to disengage the starter. This happened enough the starter had to be rebuilt and new relay installed but still happening. Any suggestions from others who may have had this issue on how to correct it? MCHinson
I am guessing this car uses the same accelerator pedal starting system that I am familiar with from a 1954 Buick that I owned. If so, I would suspect your carburetor mounted starter switch is the problem.
Mark Shaw
The vacuum switch must be defective. Intake manifold vacuum will lock out the starter circuit when the switch is working properly.
