Zimm63
If I recall correctly, the 401 should not have exhaust manifold gaskets. Rather the manifold and or head should be surfaced if there are leaks. Can someone confirm?ThanksZimm
RivNut
Keerectomundo. No gaskets, just bolt the manifold to the head. That's IF both are surfaced smooth so there will be no leaks. If you experience any leakage, then gasket are probably required. You'll probably have to re-tighten the exhaust manifold bolts after the first couple of times after driving it. There will be some expansion and contraction due to heat until you get them tight. Ed

If you try to bend the tabs on the French locks when using a gasket, you'll have to unbend the French lock every time you re-tighten the manifold bolts until you finally have them seated.
