engine detailing in HPOF class

what are you allowed to do to the engine compartment.the mechanics after they cleaned it they painted it the original color again, is that ok , for the HPOF class?? also had the radiater checked and painted ,any comments would be appreciated ..thank you

It is an accepted fact that cars do require maintenance. Cleaning and touching up the paint would be a prudent maintenance detail for a good mechanic. Certainly a replacement engine, as did happen for many vehicles, would not be expected to replicate the grease and grime of an old engine. It's a matter of judgement and I trust our HPOF team to be reasonable.

THE REASON I ASKED WAS THAT I SAW THE JUDGE WRITE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE JUDGING SHEET "ENGINE DETAIL O"SO I DON`T KNOW IF THE O WAS FOR ZERO POINTS OR WHAT IT MEANT.

Judges should be more careful with those folks who look over the sholder and have the camcorder running and send over little kids to stand by us, etc.SalG
