Guest Posted August 10, 2002 Posted August 10, 2002 I own a 1969 skylark, that I just recieved from my dad, it came with a automatic tranmission, and I was wondering if it was possible to drop in a manual.
thanx
56Roadmaster Posted August 11, 2002 Posted August 11, 2002 yes,
you will need to gather parts from skylark or GS with standard, such as clutch and brake pedals, linkage, flywheel, bell housing, shifter, and you will have modify your floor to allow shifter through, and you may have weld or bolt clutch 'z' bar or crosshaft mount on the frame.
also note that a Pontiac or Olds of that vintage will have the same parts above mentioned and they will interchange with Buick, Buick, Olds& pontiac use same engine to transmission bolt pattern Chevy and caddy are different.
Start looking in old junk yards for these parts, advertise in your local auto paper the standard stuff for those years is not that hard to get. And go swap meets, get yourself a good service manual and learn what you are looking for
