Vacuum Wiper Rebuild

Our '59 Ford has vacuum wipers that don't work. Is it possible to rebuild the unit? I read years ago to take it apart and soak the diaphragm in trans fluid....didn't work.

Problem is parts like gaskets are very complex and are not available. At least they weren't a few years ago. Send it to Ficken Wiper Service...........bob

Thank you!

Sometimes just squirting some oil inside and making sure the hoses are connected correctly and not cracked or broken, will do the trick. If it is worn out there are rebuilt units available.

Do a search, there were instructions from Trico posted here some time ago on how to do it.

Depending where you live, if the car has 80000 miles or more on it the unit may be worn out.
