Replacing Vinyl Top

Guest

Recommended Posts

The vinyl top was removed from my 79 Riviera and I am preparing to replace it. I would like to use the original material it had. (Color was white) I have been told by an upholster that the only vinyl available is with a fuz backing. I asked about quality and he said it is all the same. Is this true? Was it ever done in leather? How can I find out the original texture? confused.gif" border="0

I used to watch them install vinyl tops in the factory. They sprayed the roof with the adhesive first, then folded the top in half lenghtwise and layed it in place on one side of the car. When that 1/2 was glued down, and smoothed out, they folded the other 1/2 over and glued it down. Made it much easier to keep the seams straight I guess. Might help.
