Guest Posted November 21, 2001 Posted November 21, 2001 Is there any easy way to remove the screws from the hinges on the body side of a 35 Chevy? Tried an impact driver.
Coley Posted December 2, 2001 Posted December 2, 2001 Hi, are you having trouble with just the bottom hinge screws or all of them? I usually heat up the screw with a torch until the head is slightly red hot. Then let it cool down and heat again until just barely<BR>red. Then let it cool down to about room temp. Then try your impact driver. If you can spray any penetrating oil on the back side while it is cooling down, this may help. The theory told to me a long time ago is: By heating the bolt INSTEAD of the nut, the bolt threads will swell and push back the rust enough to let the bolt come out. I learned this 30 years ago and have had very good luck with it over the years....
