Guest huskerman
I came across this recent article about that the restoration of 1949 Roadmaster convertible from Rainmain that you may find interesting: http://dennishouse.tv/2014/11/19/iconic-ragtop-undergoing-restoration/Best,Jeff
Guest huskerman
Good points. Another observation, above the already high purchase price, the new owner is putting additional money into the car through this restoration. Could possibly be added value since it's a Wayne Carini restoration, but hard to say since the celebrity value is already built into the car. Hefty investment indeed. 1953mack
The article is kind of deceiving to those who don't know there was an early and later-1949 Roadmaster. The RAIN MAN Buick was an early-1949 with the straight side trim.....the fourth Buick pic in the highlighted article is the later-1949 model with the swoosh-spear side trim. In addition, per a previous Thread on this Forum, there were two there were three (3) 1949 Roadmaster convertibles used in the film. Which one is being rebuilt? EARLY-1949 (RAIN MAN BUICK) LATER-1949 ROADMASTER SIDE TRIM Maybe just some cosmetic updates and not a full body-off rebuild, but why? I vote for the later-1949. smithbrother
The sweep spear car has the look of being in MOTION, IMO.I prefer the sweep spear trim, and also think the rear fender is as beautiful as they get.Dale in IndyIndy
