rtjavelin
Say I am new to the old coup world and need a little help. I want to put an old school dodge motor in this dodge, like a 340 small block or an rb block and wondering what's a good choice as what will clear the original steering column, or do I need to replace it and do I need to cut away the fire wall to fit an automatic tranny. It appears that there is room for a big block dodge but I don't want any surprises. If anybody has done one of these cars I would greatly appreciate it thanksrt
jpage
You might want to look at one of the hot rod forums as this forum is geared more to preservation of original cars.
auburnseeker
As mentioned a rodding site would be better, but since the car was designed with a straight 6, any V type engine you decide to install will probably require changing the steering column and or box. I know there is no room in my 36 Chrysler for anything but a straight engine with the steering box and column location.
28 Chrysler
I hate to say it but the inline 6 is old school. It would be a better swap to go with a later 6 , up to 1959 instead of a V8.If you think you need a different look under the hood, go with a 225 slant six. Hudsy Wudsy
Also, "coup" is actually spelled "coupe".
