Should the t-top key be the same for the doors?

What is the button on dash that looks like D with parenthesis that's right above hazard button? Also why does it stay lit up regardless of whether I press it?

MY guess is the keys are different. The button may be the headlamp door button so you can open the doors without turning the headlamps on (essential when washing the car or changing a headlamp seal beam. It's been years since I worked on one of those cars. What does your OWNERS manual say?

That's correct the switch is for popping up the lights without turning them on. It should only be lit when the light switch on the stalk is turned on. The key is different for the t-tops
