GeraldT
Good evening all,I have a 1924 Model 24-45 Six Cylinder. Would like to know the specs or part numbers of the Delco Ignition Systems if that exists anywhere. Trying to find ignition parts and would like to know what other brands and models used this Delco system. Any insight here?
hidden_hunter
On the 26, the generator doesn't appear to have any model numbers on it (even on the original band) only a serial number. Leif may have the part numbers in his part book
Leif Holmberg
hidden hunter,GeraldT are looking for the Delco Ignition Systems parts numbers for 1924 if I understand right. If he want some numbers he had to tell on what parts number he want,I`m sure there are 100:s of numbers on Delco parts in 1924 Master.Leif in Sweden. Mark Shaw
Gerald T, That would be a Starter/Generator like the one below... My Book of Parts shows the whole unit as #D-268 on plate #10 of the book. Individual parts of it have separate part numbers listed. Do you need the entire unit? GeraldT
Leif,Another question in general is whether or not there are replacement parts interchangeable info? Do you know of a website or paper resource for looking up interchangeable parts?
Leif Holmberg
GeraldT.I have never seen any interchanable parts for those "starter-generators",but you can use some "small" parts from other Buick starter generator between 1924-1925,even from 4 cyl.1924 and 6cyl.Std 1925.1924 and 1925 Master are both D-268.Leif in Sweden. Hudson33
Does anyone know what year / model this Delco Ignition system is?
Leif Holmberg
Hudson33 I should recomend you to start a" NEW topic" to get an answer on this question.I don`t think this is an application for any Buick so put your question on "what is it". Peter R.
Hudson appears to be correct. But the distributor is much newer than 1913. Are there any numbers stamped to the starter generator and distributor housings?

Okay, I see what they‘ve done to the distributor…. This is definitely a very early Delco system. It was used on the 1913 Hudson Model 37 as Layden B stated above. The Motor Generator is Delco #2. It is the second Motor Generator Delco had developed (the first Motor Generator was Delco #1 that was used on the 1912 Cadillac. #4 was the third MG as used the 1913 Cadillac etc.). MG #2 was also used on the 6 cyl. Hudson of 1913 (Model 54). The distributor is Delco #5093, a typical early Delco open circuit distributor of the 1911-14 era. I noticed that someone modified the distributor by adding clips to the cup so a later 1920-24 style distributor cap can be used. I assume this was done because proper 4 cyl. Twist’n’Lock type distributor caps were not available at that time. BTW, today those caps are available from „Old buicks 2“.
