Name That Car! No.5 or please help ID an old motor car in photo No.5

Here is yet another large photo 14 x 11 on satin paper. Credits to Albert Mecham of Highwood IL. on back. (There is a few of this guys photographs in Henry Ford Museum).


As usual - year and make appreciated.

Whoever built it was heavily influenced by the styling of De Dion-Bouton. I think it is American and looks to have been quite expensive. Note the seats with the best leather used for the backs. Probably not later than 1904. I am trying to decide whether that is a drive chain I can see under the back or a axle support rod of some sort.
