Need some help here regarding the installation of the lower outer pivot pin on a 48 Packard. The shop book simply says to install the pin but then gives a torque spec for the nut and lockwasher. Since this pin threads through the ears of the lower control arm and the knuckle support bushing I am surprised there is not torque spec. Anyone have experience with this?

Yes Rick that is exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why the shop book didn't give any type of torque spec for the pin, but did for the nut? Many thanks.

Chris,
I'm not all that familiar with your year, but here is what I have as far as installation.
Lubricate and install bushing and rubber seals into knuckle support.
Tighten bushing to 145-155 lbs. ft. torque.
Raise lower support arm with jack until holes in outer end of lower support arm are in line with hole in knuckle support.
Screw pivot pin through support arm and bushing.
Tighten pivot pin to 145-155 lbs. ft. torque.
Add washer and nut to opposite end of pivot pin and tighten nut to 85-95 lbs. ft. torque.
Is this what you needed? Hope it helps.
Rick
