Gear Head Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I have recently purchased a 53' Merc Monterey 2-door HT. Noticed it is a little emblem on the dash that says it is a 50th Anniversary Edition. Is this a special edition car or was this emblem placed on all 53' Merc's. I did a little web searching but did not come up with the answer.
Guest WEB 38 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I have seen these on other 53 mercs. I was told it was for fords 50 th anniversary. Bill

I'm trying to decide a direction for this car, if it is something unusual, I will keep it stock. Otherwise, I would like to make a couple mods for better everyday drive-ability.
19tom40 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 It was on all 1953 Mercurys. Keep it stock, they are easier to fix that way and perform nicely.
Fleek Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Almost everything made by them in 53 had an emblem of some sort about their anniversary. Even the Ford tractors were "Jubilee" models with a restyled hood to display the emblem in the front.
