Guest Posted May 24, 2000 Posted May 24, 2000 Does anyone know what is the best and most durable type of primer and paint to use on a mid 60's steering wheel restoration? One source I saw suggested polyester primer but it only comes with a $70 kit and I don't need all the other stuff. Thanks, jezac

Guest Posted June 1, 2000 Posted June 1, 2000 I have read that the two part epoxy enamels are durable enough for steering wheels. If there is still sufficient color left on the steering, try to get a computer match at your local paint dealer. It's best if you can obtain a paint formula for any enthusiast club specializing in your make and model car. As for the primer, I would recommend a polyurethane-based paint with hardner.
