Guest Posted December 5, 1999 Posted December 5, 1999 Have a 1953 Jeep Cj-3B with a dying fuel pump.
There used to be rebuilding kits for repairing double action fuel pumps. (combination fuel and vacuum pump)
Apparently one or both of the diaphrams in the fuel pump are bad. Can this be reasonably done by an amateur? or is it a job for a specialist? Or can it be repaired at all?
I seem to recall reading that it can be done but I forget where and how.

D Binger Posted December 5, 1999 Posted December 5, 1999 Bart,
Rebuilding a double action fule pump is not that hard. Find a rebuild kit and go for it. One thing that I found out is - make sure the pump parts are clean. The surfaces where the diaphram goes must be very clean with no knicks or burs and flat or you could have a leak. Been-there-done-that.
DBinger
