reatta ac question

I have a 1988 Reatta. I want to hook up my A/C gage manifold, low and high sides. The low side on the dryer/accumulator is straight forward but the high side has a smaller fitting, too small for my hoses. This is the original R-12 system. The high side fitting I'm seeing is up near the firewall, drivers side. Am I in the wrong place or do I need an adapter to convert this smaller Schrader valve to the standard hose connector? Also, any idea what is this valve size for future reference in case I need to replace a leaky Schrader there.

You need a GM high side adapter like this one:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Santech-Deep-access-high-side-R12-adapter-for-GM-1991-and-later/_/N-26fb?itemIdentifier=262889_0_0_

or this one may fit better as it's tight there:

http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/A-C-Service-Adapter/_/R-NTE783614_0064411345

May not be so easy to find now. Check your FLAPS.
