Guest Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 Need a UUR2 carburator to get '29 Stutz on the road. E mail me at jwgehring@hotmail.com
1913Moline Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 My references show the 29 Stutz as using a Zenith dual updraft. I dont think that the UUR Stromberg was available in 1929.
I may be able to help you with a lead on a Zenith.
Good Luck
1937hd45 Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 The UUR-2 was standard equipment on Type 57 Bugattis....and White trucks. I always felt bad for the truck guys paying top dollar on old carburetors.
Guest Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Kisselman, you are correct, but the original Zenith 105DC dual drafts that were used are made of potmetal and fall apart with age. Several Stutz owners have used the Stromburg UUR2 as a substitute with good results. I don't care about getting 100 points, I just want the car to run!
Guest Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Kisselman, If you know of a good Zenith let me know, but almost everyone I have seen made of potmetal has cracking & distortions in it. They did made some out of brass, but they are hard to come by.
Thanks
Guest Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Suggest you contact the Stutz club as there was a chap in Melbourne Australia that reproduced 105D carbs to the orginal ones in Brass I use uur2 on my '29 Stutz you can also use a Schebler dual throat as well.
Guest Posted August 11, 2002 Posted August 11, 2002 The guy in Austrailia that reproduced them wants close to $2500 for them. Too rich for my blood!
