Guest
The '46 DiNoc is not being reproduced. I used to reproduce the '53 Skylark DyNoc, because there was a demand for it. My best suggestion would be to contact either Skip Boyer in Hanover, PA or Doug Seybold in Westlake, OH as they both do engine turning in the chrome plating and clear-coated. I believe the pattern is the same as the '40-'41 & '42 - about 1/2" swirls. Their addresses/phones should be in the Buick Bugle Roster. Good luck. Guest
Charles, I have misinformed you. The 1946's did not have an engine turned dash; I believe the last one was the large series 1942 (90 series). According to '70 Years of Buick' the Specials and both convertible models the dash was painted in a matching color. The Roadmaster Sedans had a 2-tone woodgrain dash. It does not specify what the Super had, however.

Guest John Chapman
For the edification of the owner of a Hippie Generation Buick with a cracked foam dash board... what is Di-NOC?
Thanks,
John
Bill Stoneberg
Di Noc = Fake wood grain Decal.
Used on Dashboards and the sides of doors in place of real wood.
I have had good luck matching the patterns by going to a Chrysler Dealer and getting the Decal from a new T & C van. Matches the door Di Noc on my 50 almost perfectly.
Bill
Guest John Chapman
Bill,
Thanks. All this time, I thought somebody was doing that fake wood by hand...
By the way, there were serveral very nice late 40's/early 50's woodies at the Pasadena show... one with wires, if I recall correctly.
JMC
Moby II
Let's clear up the confusion. The word DiNoc came from a decal manufacturer in Cleveland, Ohio. I have a phone directory, from 1944 listing it. These were water soluble decals, unlike the crack and peel decals of today. In the forties they were woodgrain - used for dashboards only, the window moldings were grained with rollers. Because of the two processes, that's why you will see a color difference between dashboards and moldings. In the '50's they made more decorative patterns including the five color combinations (checkered pattern) used on the '53 Roadmaster Series, including Skylarks. They also did Cadillac's pyramid design. In the fifties the DiNoc was used on both the dashboard and door moldings. How do I know all this? Not only do I woodgrain cars of the '30's & 40's, but I was the first to produce the DyNoc (I spelled it this way to avoid a possible lawsuit.) I did this twenty years ago - '53 Buick and '54 Cadillac. I don't know who Mr.BCAVP is, but I doubt if it is our current VP Bob Leets, 'cause he isn't a DiNoc expert. Going back to the original request, 46's are woodgrained in closed cars, and I believe, painted to match the car on convertibles. Hope this helps.
Ken Liska
Jyrki
Just a side note: I have a 46 Roadmaster Sedanette 76S, and it's got a painted dash, and I'm 100% positive it is in original paint. I'm curious to now if someone else's 1946 have a woodgrained dash?
