Steering wheels

Recommended Posts

I need a 4 spoke rubber steering wheel from 1929 or 30 for my 1930 Indy Oakland Racer project. Was there a 29 marque matching this or perhaps a 1930?

Hello John,

I am very interested in seeing your progress on your 1930 Indy Oakland racer project. I recently sold my '25 Oakland coach, but am still very interested in Oakland cars and their history. Can you share an update and perhaps a picture or two. Thanks much! Erik Lindstedt (ford_1919)

The race cars of the 1930s period mostly used flat center wheels.  The cars I have seen in vintage events now use quick-release hubs, though they may not have had them originally.

See the Schroeder wheels, like the #975 in 17" diameter, for something that is pretty authentic.  They also have the #960 in 15" size.
