Hello,

My son just got his license and picked up his first car, a 68 LeSabre 4 door hardtop custom with 65,000 miles. Drove it home from out of state for him and could not get the defroster to work. The heat works and the blower seems fine, just no defroster. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Kevin

There is a flap in the heat duct that directs the air to heat or defrost, it is probably controlled by vacuum. It could be as simple as the hose pulled off, or maybe the diaphragm is broke, could be leaves in the duct jamming it up, lots of things. It could also be controlled by a wire cable like a choke cable. Usually cheaper cars have the cable. If it has pushbuttons it is probably vacuum, a slider is probably cable .

One of us is going to have to look under the dash. You are closer than I am.

Thanks. The control is actually a dial that controls a cable. Looks like going to need to take the dash apart and see what is going on.
