ricosan
Good Morning All,I have 2 cracks on my steering wheel. I've seen advertisements for repair kits but I just don't know how effective they are. Has anyone here used a repair kit with good results? Or is this a job best left to a professional?ricosan
jpage
With a car of this quality I would suggest having a new wheel made. I would also recommend D&D Automobilia in North Carolina. If interested PM for his number.
chris_58
Hello Ricosan,I did the repair on my 1957 Chevy steering wheel myself with epoxy and filler material. You will have to increase the width of crack, mix the epoxy and the filler material to a paste consistency and then fill in the gaps. After it hardened out, I sanded the wheel down, applied a primer for plastic first and then repainted the steering wheel. The repair are now 10 years old and no cracks re-appeared.Chris
