Help Stoddard Dayton broken headlight lens

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I am looking for one headlight lens to replace a cracked one on my 1910 Stoddard Dayton Towncar.

Thanks in advance

Need to know the size and make of the lense. Would not hurt to post a picture of the old one

May well be an aftermarket lens from the late teens. Most if not all gaslight lenses were plain glass ( sometimes cut into strips but no pattern).

Do you have any original period pictures showing this lens as original equipment?

This one should be relatively easy to replicate by etching or sandblast.

I would also entertain looking to buy a pair of clear lenses. Can some one point me in the right direction. I will have a look at restoration supply.

Thanks Kirk Stevenson

For clear just go to your local glass shop.

They should have a circle cutter and glass of thickness to match your sample.

Some Gray& Davis lamps have convex lenses and probably some other brands as well but most are flat.

These are labeled as Manufactured by C.M.Hall Lamp CO. Detroit U.S.A Model 078B. With Stoddard Dayton in script on the top of the Lamp housing.
