He built the car with driving in mind. The body was removed from the frame and the entire chassis was properly rebuilt. The original front end, rear end, suspension, transmission and brakes were completely rebuilt and the chassis looks clean. Since he wanted to drive the car, he bought a Speedway adapter which allowed him to install a Chevy 350 Crate Engine to the original Ford transmission. He did this so that a future owner could have the option of keeping the 350 or replacing it with a flathead. A new aluminum radiator was installed as well as a completely new fuel system including the gas tank. New tires were mounted on restored wheels with new hubcaps and beauty rings. While he put a lot of attention into the chassis, the body work was done rather amateurishly. I would say this car is a cosmetic “20 footer”. The paint, while new is not the best and there is certainly evidence of body work in all the usual areas where these cars are known to have problems. The interior was replaced, and while it is very clean and usable, it is not correct but it is not bad looking either. The chrome is extremely nice including new bumpers, grill, interior and exterior door handles, headlamp bezels, tail lamps, etc. All of the glass and glass channels were replaced. The dash assembly is very nice. Overall, this 1940 Deluxe Coupe is ready to use and enjoy. Mechanically, it is just great. It could certainly be re-restored cosmetically, or can be used as a very enjoyable and good looking car to drive in its current condition-after all, it is a 1940 Deluxe coupe. It could also be the basis for an easy conversion into a mild custom or hotrod. Lots of choices here. The price is a reasonable 30,000.00 which is far less than the cost of the restoration based on the receipts and the car is located in Jefferson, WI. Clear and current title. Might consider another clean running and driving vehicle in trade but no projects. Please call 734-730-4274 or email: motoringicons@hotmail.com to schedule a viewing.
