Raise your hand if you drove at least one old Buick this weekend

Recommended Posts

I now have 49 new miles on the Caballero since I put it together.

For one of my shakedown runs, I took it to "Cars & Coffee" at Pasteiner's Collectibles & Hobbies in Birmingham, Michigan on Saturday.

It was a big hit!

And I took a few pics on my way home...

Took the 25 McLaughlin Buick for a tour this Canada Day to downtown Summerland for a coffee.  It was a quiet morning with very little traffic.  Leon

Leon:

So glad to see you and the McLaughlin out and about.

We are still getting re familiarized with our 25-25 now that I feel that it is running properly. We drove it 4 times over the weekend. Since we had no rain yesterday and today we did several more drives with the top down.

Still a work in progress. But, at least it is drive-able so we can enjoy it after over a year and a half of no Buick fun..

I took the '73 Sun Coupe to the AACA National Meet in Parsippany New Jersey this past weekend. The car drove flawlessly getting there and back to NY plus 3 days of Touring and shopping in NJ for a total of 370 miles. Had a great meet and won a preservation award. We visited two fabulous collections, one was the worlds largest Mack truck collection with 4 seperate large buildings on their property and the other was a wonderful Brass era collection of cars and motorcycles, pedal cars, etc.. Both places were chock full of Automotive Art work and automobila. It was jaw dropping.

Last week we took the '13 out with a bunch of friends for a one week tour in the Gettysburg area.

IMG_20190624_091138_01 (2).jpg

We drove it, hurt some things, and now fixing those items.

We are scheduled for another tour in Kingston, Ontario the first week of August and I need to get the car ready for that tour.   Then after that tour, we are scheduled for another tour,  the HCCA Old Car Festival tour in September.

Nothing like keeping the wheels rolling all summer.  That does not include the around town trips.

Here is a picture of our truck with Gary & Bev VanDyken's 1913 Buick on the Gilmore tour in May.  Another great time for driving a Buick with friends.

No place special to go, but it's like the car just wants to keep going!

To keep the Regal closed up with the missing window, I drove the Skyhawk to the office yesterday.  It’s bogged a few times accelerating turning left and yesterday actually stalled on me in just such a procedure.  There’s always something.

The truck is at our country place and we were out of propane, so I rolled down the rear window in the 1959 LeSabre, loaded the propane tanks, and took them to get filled.  I’d checked the radar ahead and figured I could beat the rain.  There were a couple large commercial tanks being filled when I got there, so I was delayed...I didn’t beat the rain - we got wet, but that’s not a big deal.  It’s happened before.  I enjoy the rumble of that car (louder with nothing on the metal floor) and the smoothness of the Dynaflow.  I really have to drive it more.

Drove the Special around the northern shore of Lake Erie Sunday.

1919894709_IMG_5265-Copy(2).thumb.JPG.52d470fe62cac0f0c70949a04ccbfb7d.JPG

Stopped at the dock in Kingsville, Ontario where we found this old boat was put back into operation after the "New One" developed fuel issues. They service the people and tourists on Pelee Island in the middle of Lake Erie.

Met another "cruiser" doing the same thing as us on that dock.

Stopped at what used to be a beach near my parents cottages outside of Pointe Pelee National Park only to find with the high water levels the sand was gone and to protect the road way there was huge boulders there instead. That pour cottage owner behind the car is going to loose his shed when the next rough storm hits in the right direction.

After getting to Wheatley Harbour (a major fishing port on Lake Erie) we turned aound and went back to Kingsville for dinner.

Then just had to stop in Essex, Ontario for a shot in front of the train station that hs been restored.

Arriving home in the evening sun with no issues was a perfect way to end the day.

Just a quick 30 mile run for lunch on this holiday weekend.  A buddy at work details cars on the side and told me to try the turtle wax ICE spray on wax.  So at 6 am I washed and waxed the old girl again with it.  Did not realize how nice it looked till this picture taken at lunch.  This is 20 year old plus paint with some cracking it.  getPart?uid=AKEMGqlm8BlfXR5O4wckIPY10yo&partId=2&saveAs=Resized_20190704_133007003.jpeg&scope=STANDARD

Got my 61 Electra 225 back on the road after transmission overhaul by Dorsey's Transmissions of Severn, MD. It seemed to perform quite well...I'm looking forward to adding a few miles over the summer and fall months...

I need to come up and tour.  I'm not that far.  Would make for a splendid day.

Come next year.  The tour is open to '13-'26 model year cars. It is going to be out of Marysville, Ohio probable in the 3rd or 4th week of June.

Last Sunday we drove the '25 to church. I'm grateful the pastor didn't center me out for "seemingly" keeping an eye on the car through a window seat more than paying attention to his sermon !

Today we attended a car show less than half a mile away from where the car was squirreled away for over 25 years. Found a few people that knew the owner but seems he bought and restored the car solely for an investment and was never seen driving it. It's pre 1970's history is still unknown.
