choke cable

hi all looking for a choke cable 1938 dodge D8 218 6cly stromburg carb

I'm pretty sure that car should have a Sossong electric auto choke unit on it not a choke cable. Broker-len had one for sale recently. There may be a hand throttle cable that connects to the bellcrank on the manifold.

"J"... It's a "Sisson Co." electric choke. Looks pretty much like this:

depending on application and mounting location on the exhaust manifold.

I THINK '38's were still using a "Throttle Cable" that connects to the carb linkage and is used to control the high idle on start-up of a cold engine, but I am not positive on that.

Yeah, you're right 1936d2---it is a Sisson----there I go using my memory again!

i have both on my car scissor choke is ready never hooked to carb if i go to that do i disconnect to manual choke cable to carb?

Yes you will have to scrap the manual choke cable. The auto choke mounts on the flat top of the rear portion of the manifold. If you look you should see two small holes about 2 1/2 in. apart on the flat area near the 2 bosses for the throttle bracket. A small rod connects from the arm on the choke to the choke butterfly arm on the carb. The hand throttle cable mounts to the throttle cable bracket and fastens to an arm on the bracket, There's a steel rod that goes from the other arm to the thottle plate arm. Here is another shot showing the linkage connections for the auto-choke on a '36 using a Carter carb. The Stromberg connections are very similar.

The cable connection at the center right of the photo is the "Throttle" cable connection point.
