Guest Jukebox Jonesie
Hey fellow Buick lovers, Im proud to say I own a 1955 special with 80k on her and im the 3rd owner now. It has been a load of fun learning and working on it. In 1 day I got her running after 25 plus years of being stored in the garage. I did some research on non detergent oil also lead additive for the gas, put a new battery in after fresh fluids and she fired right up.Now after a few times around the block the clutch is slipping really bad. Do they make clutch kits for the 3 speed manual. I find kits but I have no clue the size or exactly what I need. And please feel free to give tips, advance or any thing I should check into to make this car right again. I plan to restore her and try to keep almost everything original. May add a radio but other than that I love it the way it is. Thanks for the help. 60FlatTop
Here is a link to a 1957 Buick Shop Manual that Team Buick hosts. You can learn from it while searching for a '56: http://www.teambuick.com/reference/library/57_chassis/.Join the Buick Club of America and your local chapter, then the AACA which hosts this site. You will find a bunch of local people to help.Bernie

Your choice of authentic originals, reprints, or CD's. I would opt for original paper......................Bob
avgwarhawk
I responded with this in your original thread...Jukebox, I just did mine on my 54 Special. These are pretty much the same. In fact, I used a 55 transmission to replace the original. You can catch the process here:http://www.1954buick.com/showthread....Special-Clutch.....I purchased my clutch kit from here:http://www.kanter.com///gallery.aspx...t=0&MSb=0&Prc=Arrived in about a week. Came complete with improved pressure plate, clutch plate and throw-out bearing. It also had the clutch alignment tool. Fit like a charm. Pulls like a champ. Please call on me if you have questions!
