coast
Eugene,Not sure what you mean by stuck but......One thing I learned on mine was the secret to a good ground. I could not get mine to work well, would work slow, stop etc. I grounded it with a seperate wire and it started working like new. I know it should self ground but mine wasnt, just a thought.Bob

RivNut
Eugene,A couple of really helpful items that won't cost you much but are definitely worth the dollars spent are 1) a factory chassis (service) manual for your year car, 2) a large wiring diagram that you can buy on eBay* - it's twice as large as the one in the book, it's color coded, it's laminated, and it has diagrams for the power window and power seat on the reverse side; and 3) a membership in the ROA. There's a whole section on the website devoted to Tech Tips. Full of articles and write-ups.* http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-64-Buick-Riviera-11-X-17-Laminated-Color-Wiring-Diagram-/370989524200?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item5660b2e4e8&vxp=mtrEd
Eric's.64.Superwildcat
Hi Eugene,I've got my power seat out from my '64 as well. I think mine has the hardened grease problem because the motor functions and it slides on one side but not the other. Definitely follow the guidance above regarding the Chassis manual and the wiring diagram. However, I have a lot of photos from the disassembly and I still have it apart so I can take more. Let me know if there is a specific photo I can help with or whether you would just like to compare notes. I realize yours is a '63 but I'm going to assume they're basically the same. Guest ZenMaster
ARE PARTS AVAILABLE AND CAN YOU OPERATE SEAT BY HANDIf you have the seat out of the car and turn it upside down, you can disconnect the seat drive cables from the transmission and use a drill to turn the cables and move the seat in whatever direction you want. Do this slowly as to not damage the cables if your seat is "stuck". Makes it a lot easier sometimes to remove the tracks from the seat by making the attaching bolts more accessible. Again, take it slow!!!!!
