Guest Will C
My wipers in my 1949 Plymouth are running very slow. I thought it had a problem with the old vacuum wiper motor but when I looked at motor it turned out that someone in the past has installed a electric motor under there. So I'm assuming that because its running so slow the motor must be 12 volt. When I bought the car someone had a 8 volt battery in it and I put a new 6 volt in its place. Iv searched the web and cant seem to find a six volt wiper motor, Only 12 volt motors. There must be someplace that sells the 6 volt version. Curti
Why don't you just put a rebuilt vacuum wiper motor in and make it more original.
alsancle
I had vacuum wipers in my 49 Plymouth and they actually worked pretty good. You could adjust the vacuum to change the wiper speed.
1937-44
If you want to stay with electric, you could try New Port Engineering. I have never had any dealings with them so this isn't a recommendation so much as suggestion for a source. https://www.newportwipers.com/products.php?year=1949-50&make_id=
Guest Will C
I dont have the vacuum set up, If it had been there I would had gone that route. If someone has the complete set up I will replace it.
JACK M
Just take it to your local motor shop and have it rebuilt. Don't know if a newer one will bolt in but my 52 is electric.
61polara
The 6v electric could be factory. Chrysler first offered electric wipers in the 1940's

Bhigdog
My parts book says all the MoPars in 55 had 6V wiper motors. Might be the same configuration as your 12V................Bob

junkyardjeff
You might be able to get 49 or 50 Chrysler/Desoto wipers to bolt in.
