Guest Richard D
I got tired of all the opinions of Mecum and Velocity splitting ways, so I called the Mecum office. The auction going on now in KC will be the last for Velocity. They would not tell me what network they are going to. All they would say is that Dana Mecum will make an announcement on 12/07/2013 as to who will carry the auctions. I liked watching them at first as they showed that almost anyone can afford a classic car. I have seen four Corvettes sell in one day for less than $6,000 each, 3 were C4 1990s era and one was late model C3, an 82 if I remember correctly. I wish they would stop the games and say what auctions will be on what channels
motoringicons
Rumor has it Mecum will be on NBC Sports. Pretty serious upgrade and a first for any auction company to be associated with one of the "big" networks.
Guest
Rumor has it Mecum will be on NBC Sports. Pretty serious upgrade and a first for any auction company to be associated with one of the "big" networks. I wonder what will happen if they really move to the big networks?? Every time they do that in sports it means less coverage, more commercials. Typically they only show the finals like Tennis, Surfing, Volleyball etc. My guess would be showing highlights of the big dollar day or days. Like was said before and I agree that the best time to watch is especially the first day. My only beef with any of the auctions I have seen with the exception of RM is the commentators which are trying to talk over the auctioneer with their inaccurate knowledge of the product and the endless stories of their youth and their own or their friends car.
