Guest lowered65
Hey all, so I'm taking my exhaust apart today and on the passenger side in between the manifold and the downpipe there is a valve of some type...what is that thing!!? Its stuck open
RivNut
At least it's stuck open. When it's closed, it forces hot air up through the intake across the base of the carb for faster winter warm ups. Search this forum for more info on this subject. Guest lowered65
well that makes sense! On the same subject, the reason I am taking exhaust apart is because I have a nasty leak coming from that general area between the manifold and the down pipe, are there supposed to be gaskets there? Because there aren't any.. on either side
RivNut
No gaskets anywhere that I know of. The manifolds bolt directly to the head, and the pipes are kind of a ball and cup set up. It could be that some previous owner has installed manifold gaskets and they've developed a leak. ???
Guest lowered65
The bolts were not snugged up when I took them off, I bolted everything back up tight and it seems to have solved the problem
